Acer has used Corning Gorilla
Welcome to a laptop battery specialist of the Acer Laptop Battery
The Aspire R 11 is Acer's first lightweight (1.5kg) and compact convertible notebook (and it's budgetfriendly too). The first thing you notice about this compact laptop is the striking blue finish. The lid and underside has a textured pattern that adds to the overall style. On the inside, the area around the display is glossy while the palmrest and keyboard has a matte finish.
The Chiclet keyboard is not backlit but is great for typing -the keys have good travel and are comfortable to use for long hours. The single piece trackpad works well and supports Windows 10 gestures, but we felt it was lacking in quality with battery like Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830T Battery, Acer AS11A3E Battery, Acer AS11A5E Battery, Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830T Battery, Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830T Battery, Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830T Battery, Acer Aspire TimelineX AS5830T Battery, Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4830T Battery, Acer AK.006BT.094 Battery, Acer 3ICR19/66-2 Battery, Acer Extensa 4120 Battery. Definitely a bit of cost cutting there. On the right side are the power and volume buttons while the left side has a single USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, full size HDMI output and an Ethernet port. The SD card slot is on the back of the notebook -this is an off place for the card slot. Plus, if the card is not properly inserted, it fouls with the rotating display .
So the R 11 has a 11.6-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Thanks to the small size of the screen, everything appears sharp despite the resolution. The colours are vivid and the brightness levels are good. Acer has used Corning Gorilla Glass on the screen for added durability . However, we did feel that the viewing angles could have been better.
Being a convertible notebook, you can use it in the standard laptop mode, tablet mode, presentation display mode or the tent display mode. The hinges are sturdy and hold the screen at the specific angle on which it is set without any wobble.
Hardware includes a quad core Intel Pentium processor with 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard drive. In our usage, this worked great for browsing, multimedia as well as basic document editing. It even managed to run Adobe Photoshop for occasional photo editing, but it is not clearly not meant for heavy duty use -it took its time to launch the program interface and was bogged when we tried to open multiple images. We had no issues playing full HD videos using VLC player on the laptop.Windows 10 works seamlessly although we wish Acer had not loaded so much bloatware. The 4-cell battery managed to deliver over 6 hours of backup with mix usage -pretty good.
The R 11 is certified for Skype and it worked great for video calls. The webcam works well in low light and even has excellent face tracking. However, there is a lot of visible noise from the camera. We found the stereo speakers to be clear and loud -loud enough to use as a music player for a medium sized room.
